Representative Matters

Trademarks

  • Advised a small clothing retailer on how to reformat their website to provide specimens, which helped secure federal trademark registration with the USPTO.
  • Strategized with a small business client on how to obtain federal trademark registration of multiple marks in a cost effective manner by discussing their business goals regarding each mark.

Business Formation

  • Assisted a telecommunications installation business in forming an LLC, including drafting the operating agreement, employment/independent contractor agreements, and customer service agreements.
  • Advised a small real estate rental business on the most desirable type of entity to form for their specific situation, saving the client future tax money.

Estate Planning

  • Drafted a complex estate plan, including a special needs trust, which kept the testator’s home out of probate.
  • Represented a large family in multiple simultaneous probates in order to clear title and sell a home owned by multiple decedents.

Bankruptcy

  • Negotiated settlement agreements for debtors which resulted in a payment plan and settlement of about 50% of the debt owed in lieu of collection, garnishment, or bankruptcy.
  • Assisted in personal chapter 13 bankruptcy by filing a Motion to Avoid Lien, resulting in a $130,000 judgment lien being removed from the client’s home and avoiding foreclosure.
  • Represented a personal chapter 7 bankruptcy client through conflict resolution with a creditor’s valuation of their property. The client was able to keep their assets, including their home and vehicles.
