Why Arizona?
Since Law on Call began, we knew we had to expand to Arizona. We’ve operated there since 2022.
Arizona has created some of the most impactful legal industry reforms seen in the U.S. Rather than creating a temporary or experimental program, they literally changed the rulebook.
In addition to Arizona, we offer Utah legal services.
What legal industry reforms are live in Arizona?
In a unanimous 2020 decision, Arizona’s Supreme Court approved legal industry reform measures that alter the core of how legal services are delivered and by whom.
These changes allow:
- Nonlawyer ownership of law firms. This follows the elimination of ethics rule 5.4, which barred nonlawyers from owning or having an economic interest in law firms.
- Business affiliations and fee sharing between lawyers and nonlawyers.
- Technology-based legal service providers.
Why are legal industry reforms in Arizona necessary?
Over time, Arizona’s ability to meet the legal needs of its residents decreased while lawyers at small firms struggled to stay afloat. To combat these problems, Arizona enacted sweeping changes that aim to address these problems head-on.
How does Law on Call fit into Arizona?
Arizona is the second state Law on Call expanded to. We operate in the state as an Alternative Business Structure (ABS).
